‘I’m worried about spending a large amount of money through this website’
I’ve used this website company (Squarespace) for nearly ten years now. They’re used by millions of people and the methods of payment are completely secure. Your money is secure, the transaction is safe, and you will get a receipt for your purchase. Their system uses its own payment method (effectively run by one of the big banks) and you can also use Paypal if you wish.
Also, if you are still concerned, you can contact me through the contact page. I’ll get back to you and if you wish to chat about a possible purchase, I’ll give you my number and I can call you. I don’t put my phone number on here as it’s a private number and the amount of scam callers I get if I do is a problem. But I’m happy to chat wither via email (william@williamoxer.com or admin@williamoxer.com) or if you would like further reassurance, on the phone.
‘I’m happy with your reassurance that the website is safe to purchase through.
But what if I don’t like the painting once I get it, or it doesn’t suit the space, or I have simply changed my mind?’
If I was buying a high value item, I’d want reassurance. I’d also feel hesitant to hit the ‘buy’ button without knowing that I had reassurance from the artist that I could changer my mind and ask for a refund. Whilst I hope very much that if you do decide to commit to buying a painting, you will love it as much as I poured love, time and decades of painting experience into creating it, if you do change your mind, then simply contact me.
Seven days is, I think, a reasonable and fair amount of time for you to decide if you want to keep it and if not, as long as the painting has been sent back to me by the end of fourteen days (i.e. a week to think about it, a week for the postal service) then I’ll refund your money. It’s quite simple. I hope of course, that this won’t be necessary!, but I do understand that you will want reassurances. I think that’s fair.
‘I’m fine with all this and I want to buy a painting (or paintings) through you. But the ‘checkout’ system won’t accept my card. What do I do?’
It has been noted that Squarespace doesn’t always accept ALL types of payments, or because of the higher value of the paintings, that can occasionally be problematic. I recently had a client who bought two larger works and had this problem. She contacted me, and we arranged quite simply, for a BACS transfer to be made.
So again, if for any reason, you find that you can’t complete a transaction, fill out the form on the contact page, and we can sort out a simple solution. Next year, because of this, I’ll be probably moving to a ‘Shopify’ website, which is much more accepting of different banks/cards across the globe. But contact me if you’ve any problems with payment, and we will sort it.
