I spent what felt like eternity painting, scrubbing out and repainting this one. I have now got the correct feel. It just feels right, even in its slightly imbalanced way.

It’s based on a still I took from a short film about one of the exhibitions at the Philip Mould gallery in London. These beautifully shot vignettes capture my eye and inspire me.

This piece of mine oddly seems to have somehow channelled a flummery of the style of Edward Ardizzone - a firm favourite of mine borne of childhood bedtime reading. I think I’ll call it simply, ‘Hanging The Picture’ although something more florid may come to mind.
